Beginning at the visitor centre, the trail winds across a variety of rock formations and mineral deposits that chronicle millions of years of geological activity. Visitors can see active travertine building processes whereby calcium-rich streams still sculpt the terrain. From safe distances, the trail provides access to various cave systems that exhibit the karst topography unique of the area.
