The Fish River Canyon offers a breathtaking view of past geological events as the second-largest canyon worldwide and the biggest one in Africa. Over millions of years, the Fish River sculpted a 160-kilometer canyon with depths of up to 550 meters and width spanning up to 27 km. The exposed rock layers exhibit tremendous changes in geological processes and temperature, therefore reflecting 1.8 billion years of Earth's history. While its trekking paths provide daring guests the chance to close-up explore this amazing natural wonder, the canyon's unique environment supports a range of desert-adapted plants and animals.
